Suite Broken Into-- Personal Note to Folks

Last night my suite was broken into, my room ramshackled and the thieves left their muddy boot marks all over my bed and pillowcases. Basically, they broke in through my bedroom window took some personal items leaving me feeling more than a little violated and really creeped out. On top of it all, they stole my working computer, a 20 inch iMac G5 (serial # QP53100BSDZ) and my back up external hard drive. The combo of which contained all of my photography work from my life and some really important personal family photographs.

Terri is now downstairs, cleaning up the mud and ram shackled mess. I just wanted folks to know that I will not have access to a computer for awhile. Also, if people could keep an eye out on craigslist and such for a 20 inch iMac G5 (serial # QP53100BSDZ), a 200-gig external hard drive (Firewire/USB 2.3, silver case), a bag of 20+ memory cards (sandisk and kingston), and 3rd market power cord for a G4 laptop.

And if anyone has any work for the next few months or so, please let me know. This break-in has put me in a quite desperate situation (i.e. I can not get photo work without a computer and software, and I have not enough savings to buy another one).

And if anyone needs to get touch with me you can call me on my cell 778.840.3944.

Much Love,

Sarah

David Hockney's War on Photography

Bloomberg.com published a great article on David Hockney, entitled, "David Hockney: Why I Paint Instead of Picking up a Camera." The article can pretty much be summed up in the following quote:

"His complaint is straightforward, yet profound: He thinks the camera has dulled our image of the world. He feels that the dominance of the camera-eye view of the world in all the media -- and increasingly in art too -- is ``doing us damage."

Group Show: joy along the continuum

PIA Poster">

I have a series of work in a group show at the Roundhouse as part of Pride in Art. An exsample of which was used on the above Pride poster. The Opening Night is Friday, July 28th from 6-10pm. If you can not make it to the opening night the show will be up until August 10th. Please come by if you are able. I shall probably be hiding out at the chips and dips table.

Bending Light Magazine

The new issue of Bending Light has just been released! The theme of Issue 3 is a line from an ancient poem titled "Pervigilium Veneris." It reads:

"Let those who have never loved love tomorrow, and let those who have loved love tomorrow..."

And they published one of my pieces.
